Anza-Borrego Desert Photography Workshops

March 19-21st 2012

Discover the wonders of California's and America's largest desert state park as an understudy of Salvatore! This desert region of southern California is part of the Colorado desert ecosystem- the Sonoran and part of the Mojave and Colorado Deserts Bioshere Reserve. It is the lowest of the desert habitats found in California and contains rare plant and animal species found only within Anza Borrego. Here is the Elephant Tree, a species associated with the Baja of Mexico that makes it only appearance in the United States. Visiting Anza Borrego at this time we should find the best flower blooms of the spring. Of course they are dependent on winter rainfall. We will also find some of the best Cactus Gardens and wild palm groves found anywhere. The varied Rift geology of the park provides stunning mudflats, badlands and mountains each containing unusual formations such as the Salton Sea, Pumpkin Patch and fossils of Mammoth, Whales, Oysters and Brachiopods.  Desert Bighorn Sheep, Kitfox, Roadrunner, Chuckwalla and Desert Iguana's are a few of the animals we will encounter.
